This entry was posted in Apple, Hacks, Mac OS X, Scripts by Jonathan Laliberte. The reason I want to close the active window instead of quit AppleScript Editor is that I have a multiple AppleScript Editor windows open. Set AdiumContactsSize to size of window "Contacts" tell application 'AppleScript Editor' quit. Set AdiumContactsPos to position of window "Contacts" Set end of FFPos to (position of window i) If ((window i) is not (window "Contacts")) then Set size of window "Contacts" to AdiumContactsSize Set position of window "Contacts" to AdiumContactsPos Set size of window i to (item i of FFSize)

Set position of window i to (item i of FFPos) If (button returned of theResult is "Restore") then Step 3: Click the button labeled New Document. Step 2: Double-click Script Editor to launch the AppleScript Editor. Now, find some spiffy icon to assign to your new application and drag. property numFFWindows : 0ĭisplay dialog "Set Window Position or Save Window Position?" buttons default button "Restore" Step 1: Open Finder, click Go on the Apple menu and then click Utilities. Create a new AppleScript program in Script Editor with the following code, and save it as an application: tell application 'Safari' to activate tell application 'System Events' tell process 'Safari' click menu item 'New Window' of menu 'File' of menu bar 1 end tell end tell. I have this saved as an application in my Applications folder for quick launching with Spotlight. It’s customized for my environment right now, so you’ll need to look through the code a bit to customize it.

You should run it before you disconnect the display, then again when you reconnect it. This AppleScript is sort of a hack to restore window positions after removing/adding an external display, similar my other script to move all windows to the main screen.
